Inside Avarcas True North

The true designers of the Avarca were farmers in the island of Menorca, Spain due to their need of sturdy footwear for their long and hard days of work. The first Avarcas were made in the late 1800's with sackcloth and cattle hide, taking advantage of the materials available to them.

At that time, they were crafted and sewn by hand, using the own foot of whoever was going to use them and thus ensuring a perfect fit for their owner. This totally handmade technique of making Avarcas is still used today, and to this we owe its popularity this day. Some of the materials that were used in ancient times continue to be maintained, adding improvements, obviously, such as the tire sole that makes them almost indestructible.
